Disney Inspired Costumes

My Disney inspired costumes all started out with a little girl who wanted to be Minnie Mouse for Halloween.

I dug through a box of patterns and I had and found something that was close.  Then my creative side kicked in. This is a pink with white polka dot cotton, lined with a lightweight cotton fabric. Then of course there needed to be tulle to make the gathered skirt puff out. The tulle underskirt is a separate slip of very lightweight white cotton to keep the itchy tulle off the skin and light pink gathered tulle.

The final touches are a Minnie Mouse appliqué on the skirt and removable black satin ribbon for bows and waist. These are removable since the satin would never wash as well as the dress. Plus, there was a pink ribbon in case she wanted to switch it out.

This dress can be made in light to medium weight cotton fabrics, solid colors or prints. Pricing would be based on size and fabric choices.

Of course once Caitlin discovered I could sew her dresses she went princess crazy. Suddenly, she was into Princess Aurora and needed to be a princess for her fourth birthday.

This Princess Aurora inspired dress is made of hot pink satin with a layer of tulle over the top. The neckline and hem of the tulle is machine embroidered.

The gauntlets are also embroidered at the wrist.

This dress has a lined bodice, zippered back and was created using Simplicity Pattern 4764. It can be made in girls sizes 3 to 6. We can use a variety of fabrics from cotton to satin. Great for the flower girl at a wedding.
